Overview
Medina is a city with a long and rich history, which means that there’s lots for you to see and there’s no better way to make sure that you see it all than with City Sightseeing. With two routes, the Green Line and the Red Line, to help you explore and stops near all the major sights, you won’t miss a thing.
The first stop we’d hop off at on the Green Line is Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, known in English as the Prophet’s Mosque because it was founded by the Prophet Muhammed himself. It is said that all prayers heard here are answered. A great place to hop off next is the Al-Baqí Cemetery, which is the city’s first and oldest Islamic cemetery and where many of Muhammed’s relatives and friends were buried.
The Red Line also has many great places to hop off, including Uhud Battlefield, which is the site of a famous battle in which Mohammed and his followers were defeated by rivals from nearby Mecca, the only battle they lost in the war between the two cities. Hop off at the Masjid al-Qiblatayn Mosque to see this immense building, which is said to be where Allah revealed to Muhammed that Muslims should pray facing Mecca instead of Jerusalem. On the same route is the Quba Mosque, which stands on the site of perhaps the oldest mosque in Islam, and one whose foundations were laid by Muhammed himself.
For something very different, hop off at Al-Noor Mall or Abu Bakr Road, to indulge in a spot of shopping. Maybe, you’ll be able to find that perfect souvenir of your trip at amazing Medina. So, book your 24-hour ticket today and start planning your tour of Medina with City Sightseeing.
