Overview
Our Providenciales snorkeling tours will take you beach cruising through Providenciales, along Grace Bay beach, and snorkeling the Barrier Reef (the third largest reef in the world!) and finally a stop at gorgeous Half Moon Bay where you get to come face to face with the Rock Iguanas! This is the perfect trip whether you’re looking for an energetic group snorkeling tour, or a relaxing way to kick back and enjoy the waters and wildlife of Turks & Caicos!
The first stop on our Providenciales snorkeling tours will be the Turks and Caicos barrier reef; the third largest reef in the world and over 125 miles in distance! The natural barrier guards the north shore of Providenciales and preserves its beautiful white sand beach. It’s also the reason why the water is so clear and blue. On a clear sunny day you can see up to a hundred feet underwater! Sixty different types of coral are said to reside here. The barrier reef is also a fantastic spot to catch a glimpse of whales, dolphins, stingrays, turtles, and many incredible species of tropical fish.
You will then cruise along the Caicos Bank which is the shallow turquoise tinted waters off the shores of Providenciales and Caicos. The waters house tidal flats and swamps, and the cays are home to rock iguanas which are unique to the islands of Turks and Caicos! This reef system abruptly drops off into the depths of the Atlantic Ocean which is commonly referred to as the “Wall.” The Caicos Banks make up some 1700 square miles with much of the area being under twenty feet (6 meters).
Your last stop will be at Half Moon Bay which is a picturesque beach located between the islands of Little Water Cay and Water Cay. It is a three quarter mile (1200 meter) beach which started as a sand bar and slowly grew over many years. It is easily one of the most popular attractions in Turks and Caicos for island hopping, boat cruises, day trips, BBQ’s and kayak trips. It is also home to the Turks and Caicos Rock Iguana which thrive in the dune and bush environment.
