Overview
While out in the bay looking at the whales, you might not fully understand how amazingly big these animals are.
Special Tours Wildlife Adventures has partnered with Whales of Iceland, the spectacular whale museum, giving you the opportunity to experience the different whales found around Iceland from both land and sea. On this combo tour admission to Whales of Iceland is included in your Whale Watching ticket. Before or after your boat tour we recommend visiting Whales of Iceland on the other side of the Reykjavik’s Old Harbour area. The museum showcases 25 life-size whale models with a lot of in-depth information, interactive experiences, and underwater footage of whales shown on an 8-meter screen. The newest exhibit focuses on conservation where the multiple threats (and their solutions) that whales face today are showcased. The museum really gives you a feeling for how small we are compared to the ocean wildlife.
On the Whale Watching tour, you will check in at our Special Tours Ticket Office in Reykjavik’s Old Harbour before we sail out to Faxaflói Bay. Here we will search for the most common whales in the area, such as humpback whales, minke whales, white-beaked dolphins and harbour porpoises. During the tour we observe their behavior in the wild while learning more about them from one of our expert guides. Our main goals are to introduce our passengers to the wildlife in the bay while providing unique experiences and personal services, all while ensuring that the environment is protected and respected in every way. If there are no sightings on our tours you are entitled to a ticket to try again for free.
This is the perfect whale watching combo tour, offering you a Big Experience of whales from both land and sea!
